I really like it

Awesome dictionary with a great training flash card feature. I study 中文 a lot and have tried many aids. Gotta say, Im very happy with this trainer.

Best Chinese-English dictionary app

The flash card system help me see every stroke of the character and learn the pronunciation of the word. It has a vast library of words that it covers and I use this quite frequently to learn new words. Keep up the great work!

Great App!

Very useful app. A must-have for any Chinese language learner.

Handy ap

Very helpful for my Chinese study.

Tremendous Help

Hey, I am living in Beijing studying Chinese. The free version of this app helped me "find" characters at a speed much faster than checking the dictionary. It has really sped up my learning process by allowing me to find out the meaning of characters much more easily. Specially the ones that I dont know the pronunciation of, I can just write them on the phone and the find them in the dictionary. I guess you can say the same thing of all the other chinese dictionaries in the app store, but I have found this one to be the fastest and most responsive so far. I bought the paid app just to show my support. Good Luck. :)

Best there is

I love this app. Ive learned tons of words with the flashcard trainer just by using it once a day. And the dictionary has had definitions of everything Ive thrown at it, including some helpful phrases. Get this. Has this company made a Spanish English dictionary?

Great for learning

This app has enabled me to learn more Mandarin in the past two months than I had in the previous two years. Its so convenient to be able to add flashcards directly from the dictionary. And I *especially* appreciate that the flashcards include characters, not just the pinyin romanizations. It makes it much easier to keep homonyms separate, even if youre not trying to learn to read Chinese. On the down side: the dictionary itself isnt wonderful. Its no worse than any other iPhone dictionary, but I wish the definitions had a little more to them. Theres frequently more than one Mandarin result for the same English word or phrase, with no explanation as to which translation is better in what circumstance. But thats a common issue with most of the online dictionaries Ive tried. One feature I would love to see is audio. I think that every little bit helps when youre trying to learn a language--if you can use your ears as well as your eyes it goes into your brain that much more effectively. Bottom line: this is the least expensive iPhone Chinese app Ive tried, and in my opinion it is also the best. Thanks Klaus!

Best Chinese Learning Tool on the iPhone

If youre studying Chinese, and own an iPhone or iPod Touch, you need this application! It is absolutely the best one on the app store. I had the free addition, and loved it -- and was hoping Klaus would add the ability to save my word searches. He not only added that feature in this paid-for version, but created a way to study those saved searches with the flashcard system. (And the flashcard interface alone is better than the other stand-alone flashcard programs I have.) Try the free version out, and after you see how great it is, buy this app. It really is the best! This isnt a negative, but I just want to add that Im hoping Klaus will also add a "back" button on the dictionary interface. I find I click on a "link" in the dictionary part of the app, and then wish I could go backward in my search to where I began. Even without that, however, this app is SO well thought out and very intuitive. Thanks, Klaus!!

Excellent

This is an excellent app for both learning Chinese and surviving with little Chinese knowledge in china. It has been invaluable during my stay. I used the free version for a long time and it was my favorite app ever. Then, with the HSK fast approaching, I had to crack down and learn some characters. I thought the flash drive section of the paid version would be great so I bout it but it was not what I was looking for. I wanted flash cards that just went randomly through the words. Instead, you have to make a lost of words you want to practice before you can test yourself. This app would be worth $10 if it had premade flashcard sections for verbs, nouns, and adjectives. It would deserve best app of the century. 好好学习天天向上

best of breed

Ive tried just about every single dictionary on iphone and this one is one of the best. Qingwen has more depth of content but the flashcard integration is a category killer for this. All it needs is radical lookup and there will be very little that can be done to improve it.

Flashcards is very good

Once I learned how customizable the Flashcard portion is, it has become an excellent tool. I use it along with Tuttles Learning Chinese Characters.

Phrases would be helpful

App is great with the word search. Would be great if you could add phrases and audio to help with pronunciation though!

Best Dictionary App

This app is great! Use it more than my at home Chinese Dictionary. Up to date and accurate translations. Very handy when learning in class, on your own, and on the streets of China. Its a must have.

Ive written my own 词典 - this one is better

In my humble opinion, this is the Mandarin dictionary to beat. Ive written my own dictionary, and currently I use this one more than my own. Hats off to the developers. Its fast and accurate. Instead of adding extra random inputs, they use the built in iPad / iPhone inputs so it feels nice to use. The only thing I would suggest is to add example sentences, and perhaps remove the flash card feature. There are already some great flash card apps on the app store, and it seems like an after thought - saving searches is awesome.

The Best Dictionary. Excellent.

Klaus, Thank you for providing this wonderful app. It has proved invaluable in my study of Mandarin. Having spent hundreds of dollars on other pocket dictionaries and programs, I am happy that you created this well thought out and easy to use app. The Trainer and Flashcards are absolutely great and it was what sold me on your app. The dictionary entries are comprehensive, which is just how I like it. Its important to be able to see how many ways a word is used and how many different words can be used to say the same thing. What would be nice to have is a pronunciation feature (with a clear, human voice). Those of us studying Chinese language know that getting the inflection wrong on a word can change its meaning. Klaus, thank you again. A+, 100%, the Best.

Just wonderful.

As a programmer myself, Im able to recognize excellent craftsmanship in software. And man: a lot of love went into this program. Everything works exactly how youd expect it to, the flash card trainer is a pleasure to use, and the dictionary is very thorough and accurate. Completely worth the money.

My favorite dictionary

This is absolutely my go-to dictionary when I need to look up a word. Also, the flash card trainer is first rate, has every feature that I could want! Keep up the good work

Top-notch C-E dictionary.

Dont stop with just the free dictionary. Youll find the flashcard program well-worth the 4 bucks. The app has been updated a number of times and has improved every time. It used to crash a lot and ran somewhat slow. Clearly it has been optimized and now runs smoothly, even though it has more options and functions than before.

Great Application!

Since buying KT dict my test scores have improved dramatically. I now feel prepared going into each class. This application has helped me learn over 500 characters in only a couple of months. This application is a must have if you plan on studying mandarin.

K-T dictionary

This is an incredible App and an essential one for learning Chinese! One can access the dictionary by typing in English, Chinese, or Pinyin entries and then hear the pronunciation in Chinese. Its extremely easy to create customized flashcards and print them or print out lists. The reader feature is amazing, too. One can paste in Chinese and then "read" it word by word as as a whole text. Its now the only Chinese language App I turn to, and it has made my study of Chinese much less daunting.
